This piece was pit fired in oak sawdust and iron and copper sulfites to achieve the mottled earth tone coloration.  The lid on this piece has a boulder structure which acts as both the handle and as a container for a miniature fanfold book which tells the story of the rock.  The lock has a chemical and paint patina.  The key for the lock is kept inside the larger container on a driftwood fob.

The rocks at the base of this form were a greater challenge than the smooth pebbles made for the other forms.

This piece is one of my personal favorites.
